It all started with a months-long search. After many moves, this would be the definitive one, and we knew exactly what we wanted. Spaciousness, brightness, that old-fashioned flavour, central location... But nothing fitted the budget. Everything was either too expensive, too small, too far away... or too little. And suddenly, this one appeared. A house in Málaga, uninhabited for 10 years from the ’40s, with its high ceilings and... nothing else! And then, with no study, we did the project ourselves without knowing how to draw plans, not understanding distribution, furnishing, functionality... And the work on the Escorial began... Although we did things well and hired a serious company, we found ourselves on our own. We were practically in charge of the construction management, and neither the finishes, the details, nor the treatment was as expected (and paid for!).

The project was comprehensive. We changed carpentry (much to our disgust), the height of the ceilings was respected as far as possible (although, for convenience, the air conditioning was installed by ducts), and the living room was opened up simply by knocking down a wall. We achieved a spacious, uncluttered room with spectacular light.

Styling was shaped gradually, and in fact, it is still alive and changing, which is why we live in it. You can’t do this and not experiment in your own home. For me, it will never be finished.

We prefer not to tell you much more about the project in this case, as it was personal, but here are the photos to judge for yourselves!
